This Revenue Cutter is based on the cutters built at Wivenhoe, Essex by two brothers. They were jailed for building smuggling vessels but subsequently released and ordered to build Revenue Cutters for the HM Customs as none of the Kings' existing boats were fast enough to catch the smugglers!
